Problems are an Opportunity
Running my own business means days filled with fire fighting and trouble shooting. Customers come to me with problems, employees come to me with problems, partner organisations and other stakeholders come to me with problems. But I love it. Problems are an opportunity to excel, highlight our strengths, create value and develop the best solution in the market. Problems are a call to action to move us to create a desired future.

Coding Kids visited Cooroy Library and Gympie Library to share our knowledge on coding, robotics and IT with Queensland librarians. Council libraries around Queensland are enthusiastic and committed to sharing coding, robotics and IT skills and projects with their local community.
Torres News: Robots in the Torres Strait!
Digital literacy is becoming as vital as traditional literacy and numeracy and Thursday Island school students are being introduced to robotics and coding to address this issue.
Primary and secondary school students, as well as members of the public, were given the opportunity to explore, play and learn about coding and robotics over a two-day workshop a couple of weeks ago organised by the Torres Shire Council.

Design thinking: Disrupting teachers
Design thinking is forcing a paradigm shift for Australian teachers, students and the entire education system. I attended a design thinking workshop for teachers at DigiTech by Design, held at Oakleigh State School. We were working in groups to solve a community problem by using the design thinking process. I overheard a teacher say, “I want to see the answer. So I can cheat and see what to work towards.”
Will your job be replaced by AI?

Coding for girls
The gender gap in the classroom and in the workplace is real. The gap is increasing in the workplace. Only 1 in 4 students enrolled in Coding Kids is female. How do we engage girls in technology?
Machine learning and robots that are learning to “see”
This past school holiday break, Coding Kids took a group of school children to visit the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision at QUT. The Centre specialises in research and development of robots learning to ‘see’. Their ability to see is the remaining technological roadblock to ubiquitous deployment of robots into society…
Is it really “just” a theory?
Climate change, evolution, plate tectonics, gravity. What do these things all have in common? They’re often called “just theories” by critics and in a way, they’re right! All of these things, including gravity, are “just” theories, scientific theories. However, what naysayers don’t understand is what exactly is a scientific theory? So, let’s get into it.
