Thank you for joining our Python class. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and we’ll be able to build all sorts of software projects, such as building our own computer games, animations and interactive artwork!

Before your first class, you will need to download Python onto your computer.

 

How to download Python

  1. Your can download the latest Python 3 release here for free. Make sure you download Python 3.X.X!
  2. Once you’ve downloaded the file onto your PC, double click on it.
    • If you’re using Windows, it should be a .exe file.
    • If you’re using a Mac, it should be a .dmg file.
  3. Run the installer and follow all the prompts to complete the download process.

 

How to open Python

  1. Open the search bar.
    1. If you’re using Mac, you can do this by pressing Command + Space (⌘ + Space).
    2. If you’re using Windows, you can do this by pressing the Windows or start key on your keyboard.
  2. Type in “IDLE”. This is the name of the development environment for Python.
  3. Press enter
  4. Python shell is now open
