This is a four-day live online course for 14-16 year olds who are interested in learning about cyber security and Linux fundamentals through “hacking” games. No prior experience required.

Learn the fundamentals of the open-source operating system Linux. Learn how to install a Linux virtual machine, which acts as a computer within a computer. Learn how to use the terminal (the command line) through a series of war games, where you use your newfound knowledge to break through to the next level. 


This will be a four-day course run as a live online class.

  • Dates: Wednesday, 15th January to Saturday, 18th January 2020 (4 day course)
  • Time: 2.45 pm – 4.45 pm
  • Delivered via online meeting software
  • Max class size: six students with one instructor

Computer requirements:

  • Minimum 4GB of RAM
  • 20GB of free disk space
  • i3 processor or better



  • Install VirtualBox. Instructions on how to do this will be sent out in the welcome email.
  • Download Kali Linux for VirtualBox and Metasploitable 2. Please note that you must download both of these files before the class, but your tutor will show you how to install them during the class.
