Libraries, centres of coding and robotics

For many regional communities, libraries are the hub for knowledge, communication and now also learning about coding and robotics. Local children are able to access equipment and workshops to learn about becoming digital creators and innovators.

Bulloo Shire Council

Bulloo Shire Council library has been running online coding classes for children since December 2017. Every school holidays, the local children gather at the library to meet with their online tutor, based in Brisbane, and build super fun digital projects such as building computer games and animation movies.

Isaac Regional Council

Librarians at seven library branches have been busy learning how to code. Every week, during a 5-week professional development (PD) course, they joined live online classes, to learn to code and build fun projects. Librarians built 5 projects in 5 weeks. Now, they’re running their own coding classes for kids in their local community. Since the PD course, librarians have delivered 11 workshops with over 100 children participating. Librarians have also started inventing and building their own digital projects.

Longreach Regional Council

Longreach Regional Council library has been a part of the Inaugural STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) pop up event in Longreach on 13-14 August in conjunction with the Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist for National Science Week.

Noosa Library Service

Noosa Library Service in conjunction with Noosa Flexible Learning Centre delivered coding and robotics workshops for students on 13-14 August as part of National Science Week. Students learned to code, program robots, and built gadgets with code and electronics.

You’re invited!

If you are a local library that is interested in developing the coding and robotics program for your community, feel free to contact us. We have lots of free resources for enthusiastic librarians. Give your community the opportunity to embrace the future. Libraries, centres of coding and robotics for many regional communities. We would love to help your library with this journey.

We look forward to hearing from you.
