Join Coding Kids Longreach for National Science Week 2018! The office of the Queensland Chief Scientist is hosting the inaugural STEM Pop-up in Longreach for National Science Week 2018. With over 1000 participants expected to attend, 2 days of workshops will be held across 7 venues in Longreach as a celebration of science for participants of all ages in the region. Workshops are held on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 August 2018 by a number of workshop providers.

 

 

The Pop-up event activities include a variety of science topics:

 

Coding Kids is excited about visiting Longreach for National Science Week 2018. 14 Coding Kids instructors are travelling to Longreach to teach over 600 students in coding and robotics workshops.  This will be the biggest pop-up event held by Coding Kids in a regional area.

 

 

The suite of events will be held at various venues in Longreach including: Longreach State School, Longreach State High School, Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, Qantas Museum, Longreach Library, Pastoral College and Longreach Civic Centre. It will be such a grand science community outreach event for Longreach and the surrounding region with over 1000 participants expected to attend.

Students from schools in the region will be participating in Pop-up event including: Aramac State School, Isisford State School, Jundah State School, Longreach State School, Muttaburra State School, Ilfracombe State School, Winton State School, St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, Longreach Dist. Ed., Alpha State School, Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, Stonehenge State School, Tambo State High School, Aramac State High School, and Longreach State High School.

 

 

Coding Kids Longreach will be running a number of coding and robotics workshops for Prep to Year 9 students:

  • Unplugged computational thinking games and computer literacy for P – 2
  • Coding and Robotics Year 3-6: visual programming with Scratch, app design, Ozobots, & make your own robot.
  • Coding and Robotics Year 7-9: Python and Micro:bit
